Computer Lab Session 1

• Introduction to the World Wide Web with a focus on basic web browser functions and web navigation skills
• Exploring Web Portals
  (emphasis on expository reading using online Science websites in alignment with the FUSD Literacy Across the Science Curriculum Guidelines)
• Note: Throughout all WWW exploration sessions, students will collect Bookmarks related to Science Curriculum Topics aligned with the FUSD Science Standards. These will be incorporated into Project webpages and PowerPoint presentations and a Personal Research Links webpage on the student's website

Computer Lab Session 2

• Introduction to PowerPoint - creating a simple multi-slide presentation using PowerPoint templates
• Note: PowerPoint activities are correlated with the FUSD Mathematics Standards
  

Computer Lab Session 3

• Online Math Computation Practice Websites
  (emphasis on basic operations)
• Note: Throughout all online math computation practice sessions, students will utilize websites related to Mathematics Curriculum Topics aligned with the FUSD Math Standards

Computer Lab Session 1

• Introduction to Webpage Design using index.htm template from floppy disk 1
  (emphasis on reading and following step-by-step directions)
• Note: Webpage design activities are correlated with the FUSD Mathematics Standards

Computer Lab Session 2

• Creating Web Graphics using Microsoft Paint
  (emphasis on the mathematical elements of graphic design)

Computer Lab Session 3

• Online Museums and Online Libraries
  (emphasis on expository reading using Science Exhibits)
  
  
• Online Math Computation Practice Websites
  (emphasis on basic operations)

Day 3: Friday, June 23

Computer Lab Session 1

• Introducing the student's personal Junior University Website (floppy disk 2)
• Formatting the website (background color, font, banner graphics, etc.)
• Developing student's personal Junior University website homepage
• Adding student-created graphics to the art gallery webpage

Computer Lab Session 2

• Creating a Banner Graphic for Your Webpage
  (emphasis on the mathematical elements of graphic design)
• Creating and manipulating graphics using Microsoft Image Composer
  (emphasis on the mathematics related to web graphics)

• Online Math Websites
  (emphasis on problem-solving skills)

Day 4: Monday, June 26

Computer Lab Session 1

• Introduction to PowerPoint Draw Tools - creating geometric drawings
  (emphasis on geometry vocabulary and concepts)
• Converting PowerPoint graphics to webpage graphics formats

Computer Lab Session 2

• Creating the Math Project 1 webpage based on the geometric drawings
  (emphasis on expository Mathematics writing in alignment with the FUSD Literacy Across the Mathematics Curriculum and FUSD Mathematical Communication Standards)

• Exploring Homework Helper Websites
  (emphasis on expository reading using Science resources)

Day 5: Tuesday, June 27

Computer Lab Session 1

• Learning about Simple Machines using online resources
  (emphasis on expository reading using online Science websites in alignment with the FUSD Literacy Across the Science Curriculum Guidelines)

Computer Lab Session 2

• Developing Project 2 webpage on Simple Machines
  (expository writing on a grade-level appropriate science topic correlated with the FUSD Literacy Across the Curriculum and Scientific Communication Guidelines)

Computer Lab Session 3

• Online Math Websites
  (emphasis on math computation and problem-solving games)

Day 6: Wednesday, June 28

Computer Lab Session 1

• Introduction to using Search Engines , Web Indexes and Parallel Search Engines to locate information about the Solar System
  (emphasis on information literacy and expository reading on a grade-level appropriate Science topic in alignment with the FUSD Literacy Across the Science Curriculum Guidelines

Computer Lab Session 2

• Exploring Online Science Curriculum Websites
  (emphasis on information literacy and expository reading on a grade-level appropriate Science topic in alignment with the FUSD Literacy Across the Science Curriculum Guidelines

Computer Lab Session 3

• Developing Project 3 webpage on the Solar System
  (expository writing on a grade-level appropriate science topic correlated with the FUSD Literacy Across the Curriculum and Scientific Communication Guidelines)

Computer Lab Session 1

• Introduction to Excel Spreadsheet and Graphing tools
  (emphasis on creating spreadsheets and graphs using student-generated data)
• Converting Excel generated spreadsheets and graphs into webpage graphics formats

Computer Lab Session 2

• Creating the Math Project 4 webpage which incorporates spreadsheets and graphs
  (emphasis on expository Mathematics writing in alignment with the FUSD Literacy Across the Mathematics Curriculum and FUSD Mathematical Communication Standards)

Computer Lab Session 3

• Completing the Student's Junior University Website
• Converting Netscape Bookmarks to the links.htm webpage
• Publishing to the intranet/internet

Day 8: Friday, June 30

Computer Lab Session 1

• Advanced Formatting of PowerPoint Presentations - transitions, animations, preset and customized backgrounds, clipart, etc.
  (emphasis on logical thinking and problem-solving)

Computer Lab Session 2

• Completing a comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation on a grade-level appropriate Science topic.
  (emphasis on expository writing correlated with the FUSD Literacy Across the Curriculum and Scientific Communication Guidelines)
• Converting PowerPoint Presentations to HTML

Computer Lab Session 3

• Presentation of personal Junior University websites and PowerPoint Presentations to the fellow course participants, parents and FPU and FUSD District Representatives
• "Graduation" Ceremony in the FPU Amphitheater
