Module 1: Online Communication Skills The first module will focus on developing basic online communication skills. A series of interactive activities will guide participants through sending, replying to and forwarding e-mail, attaching files to e-mail messages, creating e-mail address books, participating in educational listserves and utilizing a web discussion board. Activities include step-by-step tutorials for both Microsoft Outlook Express and Web Mail. Module 2: Educational Resources on the World Wide Web The second module will focus on educational resources on the World Wide Web. Participants will explore online libraries, online museums and archives, web reference websites, web indexes and directories, online news sources, educational resource websites, kid-safe websites, and homework helper websites. Module 3: Introduction to Web Searching The third module will focus on finding additional educational resources on the Web. Participants will explore web search engines, parallel search engines, web indexes and web directories. Participants will refine their web search skills and web resource management skills. Module 4: Introduction to Webpage Design The fourth module will focus on webpage design skills. Step-by-step tutorials will guide participants through the process of developing classroom webpages using Netscape Composer and publishing their webpages on the Kings Canyon Unified School District web server. This section of the Kings Canyon Unified School District Staff Development Website will offer educators convenient access to the educational web resources from Module 2.
