The Role of the Web in Education (revised 6.15.06)

Select a minimum of two articles from the following sites:

  • The George Lucas Educational Foundation's Edutopia site offers a steady stream of articles on the value and impact of technology enhanced learning. Click on the "Technology Integration" link in the Core Concepts section. If you like what you see, you can create a user account and join in the on-going discussions.

    Edutopia

  • Marc Prensky has written a series of articles and several books on technology and learning (including the highly recommended "Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants"). He has generously offered free access to these articles (in .pdf - Adobe Acrobat) format on his web site.

If you are more comfortable reading hard copy, you can print the articles and read them off-line.

When you finish, share your reflections on the Role of the Web in Education using the TEC 908 Web Discussion Board. Navigate to the Role of the Web in Education section on the web board and scroll down to Add a New Message. You will also want to read some of the comments and reflections shared by other course participants.

Be sure to enter your Name in the Username field (first name only is acceptable), leave the Password field empty and (if you wish) enter your actual e-mail address in the E-mail field. This information will allow me to record your completion of the assignment.

Feel free to respond to messages posted by your fellow TEC 908 course participants.
