Exporting
Bookmarks
Firefox Version 3
(PC and Mac)
Firefox Version
4 - Click here.
Note: Each
version of the Netscape, Mozilla and Firefox web browsers has slightly
different features. If the steps below do not work with your version,
check the web browser's help files.
- Click
on the Bookmarks menu and select
the Edit Bookmarks or Organize Bookmarks option.
- Navigate
to the File menu on this window.
- Select Export
or Export HTML.
Note: The Export link has been moved in Firefox Version 3 browsers.
In the Windows version, it is now found under the Import and Backup
menu on the Bookmarks window. In the Mac version, it is now found
under the Import and Backup toolbar icon on the Bookmarks window (it
looks like a star).
- When
the Save As dialog box appears, select the desktop as the destination
for the file.
- Now,
change the default bookmarks.htm file name to your
first initial followed by your last name (example: bjost.htm)
Important Note: Use only lower-case
letters. Do not use any spaces and be sure to include the
.htm suffix.
- Save the
renamed bookmarks file.
- Navigate
to the desktop where you saved the exported bookmarks and open it.
You should see your entire Bookmarks file displayed as
a webpage on your screen. Clicking on the links should take you to
the associated webpage.
- You will
notice that this process exported your entire Bookmarks list. Most
recent word processors can open and edit webpages. Give your's a
try. Just be sure to save the edited Bookmarks list as a .htm (webpage)
file. Check your word processor's help files for more information.
