Exporting
Bookmarks
Firefox
(PC and Mac)
Firefox Version
4
Note: Each
version of the Firefox web browser has slightly
different features. If the steps below do not work with your version,
check the web browser's help files.
- Click
on the Bookmarks button (Hint: it has a Star and
the word Bookmarks)
and is located in the upper right corner of the browser window) and
select the Show
All Bookmarks option
from the menu that appears.
- Navigate
to the Import and Backup menu on this window.
- Select Export
HTML.
- When
the Save As dialog box appears, select the Desktop as the destination
for the file.
- Now,
change the default bookmarks.htm file name to your
first initial followed by your last name (example: bjost.htm)
Important Note: Use only lower-case
letters. Do not use any spaces and be sure to include the
.htm suffix.
- Save the
renamed bookmarks file.
- Navigate
to the desktop where you saved the exported bookmarks and open it.
You should see your entire Bookmarks file displayed as
a webpage on your screen. Clicking on the links should take you to
the associated webpage.
- You will
notice that this process exported your entire Bookmarks list. Most
recent word processors can open and edit webpages. Give your's a
try. Just be sure to save the edited Bookmarks list as a .htm (webpage)
file. Check your word processor's help files for more information.
