Exporting Your Safari Bookmarks: Mac

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click on the Bookmarks menu and select Show All Bookmarks.
  3. Click on the File menu.
  4. Select Export Bookmarks.
  5. When the dialog box appears, select the desktop as the destination for the file.
  6. Now, change the default Safari Bookmarks.html  file name to to your first initial followed by your last name (example: bjost.htm)

Important Note: Use only lower-case letters. Do not use any spaces and be sure to include the .htm suffix.

  7. Save the renamed Bookmarks file.
  8. Navigate to the desktop and open your exported Bookmarks. You should see your entire Bookmarks file displayed as a webpage on your screen. Clicking on the links should take you to the associated webpage.
  9. You will notice that this process exported your entire Bookmarks list. If your word processor is capable of editing webpages, you can edit the webpage, removing the folders and bookmarks that you do not wish to include.
